Today we want to talk about how sentiment analysis works and why we should use it. But first we need to be clear about what sentiment analysis is.

What is sentiment analysis? Basically it is the process of determining the emotional tone behind a set of words. It is used to understand the attitudes, opinions and emotions expressed in online conversations. It is also known under the terminology opinion mining.

sentiment analysis

What are the uses of sentiment analysis?

The usefulness of sentiment analysis in social media monitoring is huge because it gives you the opportunity to get an overview of what public opinion is saying about specific topics. There are social media platform monitoring tools such as Atribus that make it easy for you and allow you to do sentiment analysis in real time.

It has been shown that changes in sentiment on social media platforms go hand in hand with changes in the stock market. There are many companies that include this process in their marketing strategies because of the great advantages it offers. It is a very useful tool to find out what your consumers think about your products or services, as well as what your competitors are offering.

It is no longer only companies that use this practice for their market research, but political parties also make use of it. With sentiment analysis it is possible to measure the public’s perception of an electoral campaign or a political proposal of any kind, as well as to know the population’s opinion about a political candidacy.

Making use of this type of analysis makes it possible to react to generalized opinions in the most optimal way possible. A clear example is that of Expedia Canada, which detected a large number of negative comments about the soundtrack used in an advertisement. Thanks to social media, it was identified that the vast majority of users agreed that the music was very irritating after several reproductions. The solution that the brand decided to adopt was to create a new version of the advert by crushing the offending violin.

Interpretation of social data

It should be clear from the outset that sentiment analysis is not a perfect practice. This is because human language is complex for a machine, as it has to be taught to analyze the nuances of grammar, ironies and even misspellings that often occur in social media comments.

For this reason, it is essential to teach the machine to contextualize textual language, so that it can correctly analyze both positive and negative sentiments, even when playing with sarcastic tone.

How we do sentiment analysis with Atribus

As we have just explained, human language is complex and is constantly changing and growing every day. At Atribus we use rules to make our software able to better understand the ways in which the context and tonality of conversations can affect sentiment.

Basically, we collect all mentions – words and phrases – that carry negative and positive sentiment and put in place the necessary rules so that our tool is aware that context can influence the tonality of content. In addition, we have a more detailed sentiment analysis that identifies each of the emotions observed in online conversations.

emotions of online conversations

To have more control over your brand, our tool analyzes the percentage of positive and negative sentiment and groups it by online and offline platforms. In this way, companies can check in real time whether the strategies they are following in each of the social media are working as expected or not.

sentiment analysis with Atribus

What will the future of sentiment analysis look like?

Without falling into the complex of the crystal ball that predicts the future, it is true that we would like to expose the existing general assumption about sentiment analysis. This is that sentiment analysis must go beyond the basic positive and negative scale, since there are so many different sentiments that it is difficult to include them in a single yardstick. Likewise, this type of analysis will grow and encompass a new spectrum of emotions in textual language.

Given this fact, many companies will decide to include sentiment analysis in their marketing strategies and the proliferation of artificial intelligence tools to help them in their decision making. Because if anything will become clear in the coming years, it is the wide range of information that this process offers to brands, so efforts will focus on how to make the extracted data interpretable and actionable.

Nowadays, brands have in their hands an incredible opportunity to reach their target customers, we are talking about influencer marketing. It is increasingly common to see influencers in action on every social platform. This is why companies have to develop a successful strategic plan to efficiently promote their products and services to their audience. In fact, there are studies that suggest that campaigns made with influencers can get $5.78 for every dollar of average investment.

In this post we will explain what you need to build a complete influencer strategy.

What is Influencer Marketing?

The first thing we need to be clear about is what influencer marketing is. It is a type of social media marketing that focuses on the union between brand-influencers and carries sponsorships. These personalities on whom the campaign revolves are people who have a large community and high engagement on their social profiles.

Generally, influencers are experts on a particular topic and that is why their followers turn to their favorite figures for advice and extra information about a product or service. In the case of brands, they sponsor and reward influencers through payments or benefits, such as free products or big discounts.

Influencer Marketing for brands

The power of influencers for your marketing strategy

Due to the great fragmentation that now exists on social media, it is increasingly difficult for brands to capture the attention of consumers, enhance brand sentiment or directly, get new customers.

In fact, the results of a study conducted by Oracle, point out that 37% of consumers trust social media influencers more than brands. In addition, 80% of consumers have purchased products as a direct response to relevant content they consumed on their social profiles. This leads us to conclude that ultimately, consumers put their vote of confidence in these figures because they see them as credible and trustworthy. We understand why the influencer marketing industry is estimated at over $16 billion and continues to grow exponentially.

What is the state of the influencer marketing industry like?

Back in late 2013 and early 2014, when Instagram started launching ads for the first time, it was enough to stand out from the competition with quality images and little else. It is true that influencers still focus their efforts on the aesthetics of their advertising pieces to increase their audience, even so, the influencer marketing industry has grown so much that there are many personalities who have wanted to take advantage of their social followers for their sponsorships.

And why is this happening? As we have explained above, consumers are currently highly influenced by what they see and hear on social media. In fact, several studies claim that 49% of consumers trust the recommendations of influencers, which confirms that there is no better time than now to develop an effective influencer marketing strategy.

Far from this type of marketing being a fad, 89% of companies conclude that the ROI of influencer marketing is comparable to or better than other channels. In addition, 51% of marketers say these personalities help get more quality customers.

We are witnessing that, with the help of great content possibilities and more technology, influencer marketing allows brands to expand their reach and achieve quality results thanks to curated content that speaks directly to their target audience.

What is an influencer marketing strategy?

An influencer marketing strategy is one that takes advantage of digital content creators who have great influence in specific sectors or target audiences when making purchasing decisions. With an optimal strategy, you can work hand in hand with these personalities to promote brands, products or services.

What are the advantages?

There are several benefits of developing campaigns through influencer marketing, we will list several of them. Firstly, with these people it is easier to connect with your audience as they generate greater trust and credibility. In addition, it is a useful tool to enhance the feeling of your brand as they can serve as speakers of your company’s story. Another aspect to highlight is that, through the constant creation of content, in addition to completing the timing of publications, you can reach audience members who were previously interested in your product or service.

Build a solid influencer marketing plan by following 5 key steps

It is clear that before promoting your brand with these personalities, it is necessary to develop a strategy to optimize the performance of your campaign and allow you to track progress at each point in the process.

Step 1. Define your budget and goals

It is essential to establish from the beginning what are the objectives you want to achieve and what is the quarterly or annual budget you have so that your strategy remains constant during the campaign. Some objectives may be: increase sales; increase brand awareness and brand identity; improve engagement; improve your web positioning in the main search engines.

As for the budget you have to allocate to this type of influencer campaigns, it will depend on the personality you want to count on: it does not cost the same to make an influencer marketing campaign with an account of 500k followers, than with one of 2M followers.

To give you an idea, macro-influencers usually earn from $5,000 to $10,000 per publication. However, microinfluencers earn between $100 and $500 per content. Keeping this in mind and depending on what the objectives of your strategy are going to be, you will make the decision to hire one personality or another.

influencer marketing strategy

Step 2. Choose what the main message of your campaign will be

The next step to follow is to establish what type of campaign you are going to build and what message it will revolve around. It is important that the influencer marketing strategy we are going to develop inspires your followers and gets them to interact with your brand. Some typical campaigns that brands usually do are: sweepstakes, sponsored content, mentions, discount codes or guest posts.

However, it is also effective to use a conversational message that aligns with the brand’s values. By using target keywords that are trending in your industry, you can attract your target audience.

Step 3. Find the perfect influencer for your campaign

No matter what the industry, you can always find someone who can influence your audience’s buying decision. Whether it’s social media influencers, opinion leaders or B2B experts, you have a wide range of options for finding the perfect figure.

In order to evaluate influencers, you can ask questions such as whether that person publishes content that might interest your audience; whether they are a credible figure; or whether their personal style fits your brand’s values and guidelines.

Once you have established which influencers you want to campaign with, it’s time to contact them. Depending on whether they are a macro or micro-influencer, you can contact them through their social media, website or email address.

Step 4. Manage the influencer campaign

Once you have contacted the influencer, you will need to define the campaign requirements, content calendar and reporting activities. In other words, you will have to manage the details of the campaign.

If there is one thing to be careful with is not to confuse influencers with your employees, these personalities are ambassadors of your brand who are working with you to help you build a community of future customers. With that in mind, you can meet with the influencer to provide styling guidelines ahead of time to ensure you meet expectations. As well as explain how you usually work with brands, including monetary compensation, discounts or free products.

It should be clear that managing these personalities is critical to the success of your campaign.

Step 5. Track your results exhaustively

As with any marketing strategy, it is necessary to monitor the results in order to improve the campaign. Keeping in mind the objectives that were set at the beginning, you will only need to measure and analyze the data.

Identify if the content is generating interaction among your audience or if there has been a high conversion rate. It is important to study all the variables of the campaign to be able to generate better results in the next one.

Boost your brand with influencer marketing

Once the influencer marketing strategy has been planned and developed, the only thing left to do is to test campaigns and generate commercial results. The most successful strategies are constantly evolving. Companies need to establish theirs in a solid way that will enhance the long-term future of the brand no matter how much the industry is constantly changing.

The post 5 Key Factors For Spotting Consumer Trends With Social Listening appeared first on Atribus.

]]>
Fellow trendspotter! You live your life in data and you need to keep track of the next breakout consumer trends for your brand or business. You may have already turned to social analytics tools to watch a trend about to go viral online ahead of time. But sometimes social media research carries with it some barriers to finding consumer trends quickly and accurately.

Many of our clients use Infegy Atlas to catch and identify trends in the early stages for their organization or their clients, and we know this to be true: using social listening to understand consumer behavior is the best way to understand or even predict consumer behavior online. Whether you’re new to using social listening for consumer trends research or looking for a refresh, there are some key considerations to know to optimize your social listening research.

Why Social Listening is Good at Finding Consumer Trends

The next big trend is about to take off at any given moment. Where do trends start in the post-digital world? Online. Who starts those trends? People – talking online.

A breakout trend will usually develop on social channels and forums. Sometimes it’s a slow build. Other times it will skyrocket overnight. Using a social listening platform for your consumer research can help you discover those trends in the early stages, before it’s too late. With the right social listening strategy, you can get instant results for your research queries, and with the right listening tools you can dig into specific audiences, channels, demographics, and more.

The nature of online conversation makes this consumer trends research possible. People sound off on new products, trends, viral videos. And since these conversations are unsolicited, you’re finding truly organic trends! But before you start, remember these 5 key things:

Different Channels Have Different Uses (And Trends Happen On Some Channels Before Others)

People interact differently based on who they are or which platform they are using. Think about moms and DIYers on Pinterest or gaming reviewers on Reddit. These audiences have different use cases and experiences. They might be the ones to start a new trend based on their respective natural habitats.

For example, amongst groups like millennial moms or on topics for CPG and grocery categories, grassroots trends often take flight on Pinterest. As we present in our consumer trends guide, Pinterest may offer the best channel to analyze if you want to find trends involving these groups early.

However, it’s not the only channel worth looking at. Infegy’s TikTok data increasingly shows emerging trends in a fashion similar to Pinterest given its DIY/approachable nature. Can you think of a trend that started on TikTok? Consider analyzing TikTok data, in addition to Pinterest, to identify trends early in the product life cycle.

Don’t Dismiss Reddit

TikTok is a natural place to look for trends because of its viral nature. But consumers talk all the time about their plans to buy products on Reddit. A trend on Reddit won’t be the same as that on TikTok or Pinterest. Instead, it’s a little more subtle. People, especially young people, express high amounts of purchase intent on Reddit making it a perfect place to spot a hiding trend in the early stages.

Additionally, with Reddit’s specialized sub-channels there really is a subReddit for everything. For example, maybe you want to find the next trendy bicycle. In the image below, a buyer identifies their intent to purchase a specific product. The post also shows how they plan to use the product, and they will make their decision based on reviews. How does this help us? The additional detail provides context to what is important to bicycle buyers and opens a direct line of feedback from other buyers.

Analyze Specific Audience Segments to Reveal Underground Trends

Identifying the niche audiences who love a product gives a powerful insight into who a brand’s most consistent advocates are and improves your ability to predict behavior accurately. Instead of only focusing on increasing consumer numbers, evaluate your core consumer audience preferences by searching for audience patterns and grouping them into segments.

Refine and Tweak Based on Your Category

Remember, some categories like gaming may have massive amounts of online conversation, while others such as oil fragrances may have a smaller volume. Both offer the potential for using social listening to identify trends, but it will take tweaking your research to do so.

For categories that have massive social volume, you’ll need to refine your audience to filter noise. For more niche industries, you’ll need to expand your search to have enough volume for analysis.

Keep in Mind How Audiences Talk and How Trends Change

Online audiences talk about products and lifestyles in different ways, and the conversation will evolve over time. You might have searched for trends in “smartphones” in 2010, whereas today that term is no longer commonplace. You’ll want to search online conversations for branded terms like iPhone and Android. Before researching a trend within a category, consider the situational context and how people actually communicate online.

Conclusion

There you have it: an essential list of “keep-in-minds” for finding consumer trends on social media using social listening. Taking these factors into consideration throughout your research will set you up to find those trends early.

Find the right size and dimensions for your social images and videos on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, TikTok, Twitter, YouTube and Snapchat in this comprehensive guide. Bookmark this always-up-to-date guide to make your social pictures as perfect as possible.

You don’t need to be told how important your social media visuals are. In fact, a recent survey found that 63.2% of businesses rely heavily on images and video in their marketing strategies.

So many platforms, so many rules.

It’s hard to get your visuals to look good on everything from Facebook to Pinterest without guidance. So we decided to make one.

We’ve looked at the different sizes and dimensions you need to know to keep your social accounts looking good and doing what they’re supposed to do.

All sizes in the title are recommended sizes. Usually you can use larger sizes, but stick to the aspect ratio to ensure images and videos are displayed correctly.

Facebook social image size

Facebook is becoming increasingly visual and mobile-centric. By 2022, Facebook will remain the world’s largest social media platform with more than 2.9 billion monthly active users. There are many eyes to see your content. So the potential here is huge, especially for algorithmic changes that favor participation and sharing.

There are many different types of images and videos on Facebook, from your feed to your profile page. We list them below:

Facebook profile picture dimensions: 180 x 180 pixels

Most likely, your most viewed image posted on the platform (your profile picture) will act as your avatar throughout the site.

Often, the first thing people see when they meet you are all of your posts, comments, and almost all of your Facebook activity.

Guidelines

  • Requires a minimum width of 180px
  • The height can be less than 180 pixels, but the image will not be clear
  • Aspect ratio of 1:1

Facebook Business Page Profile Picture (180 x 180 px)

Facebook used to have different rules for profile pictures for business pages, but not anymore. Dimensions now exactly match the profile picture.

We want to include this section, just in case you’re looking for it.

Guidelines

  • Requires a minimum width of 180px
  • The height can be less than 180 pixels, but the image will not be clear
  • Aspect ratio of 1:1

Facebook cover photo size: 820 x 312 pixels

In my days, we never had a cover.

Introduced in 2011, Facebook cover photos have enough space at the top of your profile (or Page) to place a photo of your choice (or video on your Page).

This is a great way to add some character to your profile without sacrificing a nice profile picture.

Guidelines

  • For best results, you can set a minimum width of 400 pixels and a minimum height of 150 pixels.
  • All of these measurements apply to the cover photo.
  • If you want to add a cover video to your page, get all the details here.

Link image dimensions shared by Facebook: 1200 x 630 pixels

This refers to the image Facebook uses when generating the box from the share link. In addition to the image, you can also get the title and description of the content.

Correctly sizing images is critical to making your content look good when someone shares it on Facebook. If you get it wrong, the image can be severely cropped or stretched.

You can choose which images Facebook uses by setting social meta tags. Learn more about this topic here.

Guidelines

  • Consider how the image matches the title and description of the content.
  • If not set, Facebook will try to extract one from the content.
  • The aspect ratio is 1.9:1.

Image size shared on Facebook: 1200 x 630 pixels

This is the best advice for making the image look good and making sure it doesn’t get distorted, but there may be some wiggle room.

Taller and shorter images are often seen on Facebook, so while 1200px is a good rule, you can increase the height a little, as follows:

Guidelines

  • The maximum height of an image before cropping is 1800 pixels.
  • The recommended aspect ratio is 3:2.
  • Facebook will automatically crop or resize when you cross borders, so always test your images.

Facebook event cover photo dimensions: 1920 x 1080 pixels

It’s not just profile pages that get the cover photo treatment. Events also allow you to hang huge pictures to encourage people to attend your grand entrance, performance or other event.

There is also an option to include a video here, perfect for really getting in the Devonshire Cheesefest 2018 vibe. Get all the details on how to get the video here.

Guidelines

  • Minimum width is 400x
  • Minimum height is 150px
  • Aspect ratio of 16:9

Other Facebook image and video sizes:

  • Facebook group cover photo size: 1640 x 856 pixels
  • Facebook video size: 1280 x 720 pixels
  • Maximum Facebook video length: 240 minutes
  • Facebook image ad size: 1200 x 628 pixels
  • Facebook video ad size: 1080 x 1350 pixels (4:5 aspect ratio), minimum 1080 x 1080 pixels, also supports 16:9 to 9:16 aspect ratio
  • Facebook Stories ad size: 1080 x 1920 pixels
  • Facebook Messenger image ad size: 1200 x 628 pixels
  • Facebook Reels: 1080×1350px (ratio 4:5)

Twitter social image size

Twitter is another huge platform with 396.5 million users, but gone are the days when your succinct observation was enough to draw attention to Twitter. Everything moves faster here, so you need compelling imagery to stand out in a fast-paced newsfeed.

According to one study, Tweets with images get 150% more retweets than Tweets without images. Do not smell.

Twitter profile picture dimensions: 400 x 400 pixels

Your Twitter profile picture is important because it appears on your profile page and every tweet you create. Especially if you are a brand.

Mostly, companies use their logos, but some also make seasonal changes to spice things up and grab some attention every now and then.

Guidelines

  • Remember that the profile picture will be circular
  • Recommended image size: 400 x 400 pixels
  • Minimum image size: 200 x 200 pixels
  • 1:1 aspect ratio
  • Maximum file size: up to 2 MB

Image dimensions for Twitter in-stream photos: 1600 x 900 pixels

As mentioned earlier, sharing images can increase engagement and get more people to see your content. Proper image size will help you maximize results.

Twitter will crop and resize based on the image you use. To look best in the stream, 1600 x 900 pixels is the best minimum.

Guidelines

  • Minimum size: 600 x 335 pixels
  • Aspect ratio: between 2:1 and 1:1 on desktop; 2:1, 3:4 and 16:9 on mobile
  • Supported formats: GIF, JPG, and PNG
  • The maximum file size for images and GIFs is 5MB on mobile and 15MB on the web

Twitter header photo size: 1500 x 500 pixels

Similar to Facebook, Twitter allows you to add a giant photo to your profile to show how funny and awesome you are.

Businesses use it in a variety of ways, from promoting new products and events, to adding extra branding, to showing off some pretty employee photos (we explain this in our Twitter moderation guidelines).

Guidelines

  • Note that the image reacts to the screen size, so keep in mind the selection changes.
  • To future-proof the image, it’s best to use the maximum size.
  • The header image is cropped to a 3:1 aspect ratio.

Instagram social image size

Since its inception, Instagram has been a visual network for marketers to indulge their inner photographer and filmmaker. Instagram Stories and Reels have gotten the most attention lately, but you can still easily grab attention with static images—one tip here is to use filters.

Choose the best of three Instagram post orientations (square, landscape, and portrait). Choose the right one for your brand and compose your photo or video accordingly. Let your creativity flow into stories and reels by considering the correct dimensions for these formats.

Instagram profile picture dimensions: 110 x 110 pixels

Like all profile photos, it appears next to every photo you post, so it’s important to highlight it.

Your profile picture is 110×100 pixels in the app, but larger on the desktop. Using a 180×180 pixel image will ensure it looks good on all devices.

Guidelines

  • Keep the aspect ratio at 1:1.
  • The logo is cropped as a circle.
  • PNG cannot be used when changing images on the desktop.

Instagram photo size:

  • 1080 x 1080 pixels (square)
  • 1080 x 566 pixels (landscape)
  • 1080 x 1350 pixels (portrait)

This refers to a photo that appears in an Instagram feed or when clicked from elsewhere, such as someone’s profile page.

Instagram clearly favors square images, but you can use rectangular images, where the platform fills the extra space with black.

The following guidelines are important to Instagram:

  • 1080px is your limit. Anything above that, you’ll need to crop the image.
  • Always remember that how it looks on mobile is more important than how it looks on desktop.

Instagram thumbnail size: 161 x 161 pixels (1:1)

For example, your picture will appear on someone’s profile page or in a hashtag search. Something that catches the eye can be important.

This is very handy when presenting products, especially when you want to turn your entire profile page into a single image.

Guidelines

  • If your image is already a 1:1 square, you can start right away.
  • For rectangular photos, Instagram simply crops from the center.

Other Instagram Sizes

  • Instagram story size: 1080 x 1920 pixels
  • Recommended Instagram video dimensions: 1080 x 1080 px (square), 1080 x 566 px (landscape), 1080 x 1350 px (portrait)
  • Carousel posts and ads: 1080 x 1080 px (square) recommended, 1080 x 566 px (landscape) and 1080 x 1350 px (portrait) are also supported, can be video or still image
  • Instagram ad sizes: 1080 x 566 px (landscape), 1080 x 1080 px (square)
  • Instagram IGTV video size: 1080×1920 pixels
  • IGTV cover image size: 420 x 654 pixels
  • Instagram Reels and Live Streaming: 1080 x 1920 pixels

LinkedIn social image size

It’s time to get serious about business. Now we’re on LinkedIn, where the riches and a steady stream of thought leaders post weird status updates.

Either way, it’s a great place to connect with people, so grabbing their attention can be very valuable. As always, images are key.

LinkedIn profile picture size: 400 x 400 pixels

Once again, your profile picture gets more exposure on LinkedIn than anything else. From your posts to your profile page to search results, this is the first thing people see when they encounter you on a website.

To determine your LinkedIn look, choose something more professional than your average Facebook look.

Guidelines

  • Images smaller than 400×400 pixels can be used at the risk of being cropped/pixelated.
  • The image is cropped into a circle.
  • LinkedIn also allows you to zoom and crop when selecting photos.
  • Your photos can be up to 7680 x 4320 pixels.
  • The maximum size is 8MB.

LinkedIn background title/cover image size: 1584 x 396 pixels

Here we have a huge space for pictures on your profile page. It ranks high, so it’s the main property that communicates your spending.

For example, if you’re a designer, this might be a good place to showcase some of your work. Brands can increase brand awareness by providing employees with customized, company-focused LinkedIn banners to display on their profiles.

It is best not to fill the background area with text as a secondary resume. If nothing else, just post a nice landscape photo.

Guidelines

  • Remember, your profile picture will appear below.
  • Also keep in mind that if the image is not high resolution it will look blurry.
  • Keep the aspect ratio at 4:1.
  • Maximum file size: 8MB.

Image size for LinkedIn company profile: 300 x 300 pixels

Your company profile image guides your brand on the platform. It usually just fills in your logo.

For a platform like LinkedIn, this is probably the best way to go, but if you want to try something different, go ahead.

Guidelines

  • At 300 x 300 pixels, your company profile picture will be slightly smaller than your profile.
  • Whether the image is square or cropped to a circle, depending on where it appears on the website.
  • If you paste text, make sure it’s really legible.

LinkedIn Square Company Profile Image: 300 x 300 px

This happens every time your business shows up in a search query, so it’s obviously a good thing to get it right.

Ultimately, the images are only pulled from your business pages, so you just need to follow the same guidelines and sizes as above.

LinkedIn company cover photo size: 1128 x 191 pixels

This image is at the top of the LinkedIn company page, partially obscured by the profile picture and company information.

Very thin and mostly hidden, it’s an odd cover art, but there you go.

Guidelines

  • Keep in mind that a lot of this will be covered up.

LinkedIn hero image size: 1128 x 376 pixels

This hero image refers to the “Life” tab on the company page when signing up for the platform’s paid recruitment service.

It is used to showcase the company’s culture to attract new employees. So when setting it up, it’s best to aim for fun and happiness rather than a gray suit and briefcase.

Guidelines

  • 3:1 aspect ratio
  • Only applies if you have a “Life” tab on your business page

Additional LinkedIn Image and Video Dimensions:

  • LinkedIn post image dimensions: 1200 x 1200 px (square), 1080 x 1350 px (portrait)

Successful YouTubers have learned the art of engaging previews, so this is the right place to start.

YouTube profile picture dimensions: 800 x 800 pixels

Compared to other platforms, YouTube profile pictures are less prominent, but still important.

What you choose is up to you. YouTube users often use their own avatars, while publishers and companies use their logos. Take a moment to consider the options that are best for you.

Think about what will help explain your expectations for the channel. A good place to start is to look at your most discussed topics.

  • This will be seen on many devices, so 2560 x 1440 pixels will make sure it looks good on all devices
  • 2560px is the maximum width (desktop)
  • 1546 x 423 pixels (smartphone)

YouTube image preview thumbnail size: 1280 x 720 pixels

Pinterest social image size

Pinterest is about vision. With over 430 million people using Pinterest every month to spot trends and get inspiration for everything from weddings to home decor, it’s the go-to place for retail businesses.

It’s important to get the right images and showcase your products properly. When it comes to Pinterest images, you need to think vertically, as this format is better for tall than wide images.

Pinterest profile photo dimensions: 165 x 165 pixels

This doesn’t take up much space on Pinterest, but it’s good to have a face on your personal board.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter to the platform, so just choose what you think best represents you and what you do on Pinterest.

Guidelines

  • The image is cropped into a circle.
  • It must be kept under 10 MB.

Pinterest standard pin image size: 1000 x 1500 pixels

Pins are all the images you see on Pinterest that other people have uploaded. They behave differently in different parts of the site, so these guidelines are more detailed:

  • Pins are placed in portrait orientation, usually with a 2:3 aspect ratio
  • Pins with aspect ratios greater than 2:3 may be cropped in other people’s feeds
  • File type: PNG or JPEG
  • Maximum file size: 20MB

Pinterest board display size: 222 x 150 pixels

When you’ve spent a long time piecing together some great pins on the board, you want the board to look good too.

Board cover photos help users understand what the board is about and entice them to click.

To set it up, you must first upload the image you want to use as a pin.

Guidelines

  • Your cover photo will appear as a square with two other pins on the right.
  • You can use the board’s Edit function to specify a cover.

Other Pinterest image sizes:

  • Pinterest video size: square (1:1) or vertical (2:3, 9:16); duration: minimum 4 seconds, maximum 15 minutes
